As a follow-up to the announcement made by the Prime Minister at the fourth BIMSTEC Summit held in Kathmandu in August 2018 in which India agreed to hosting the BIMSTEC Startup Conclave, the two-day summit is being scheduled. The summit will be participated by over 25 countries with 200 global speakers and will be held on 15 and 16 January.
Prime Minister of India: Narendra Modi will address “Prarambh: Startup India International Summit” on 16 January where he will interact with startups at 5 PM via video conferencing.

This summit, administered by the Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is scheduled to be held on 15&16 January.
At the summit, there will be 24 sessions. The Prime Minister’s Office said in a press release, “It will focus on improving multilateral cooperation and engagement with countries from around the globe to collectively develop and strengthen the startup ecosystems.”
With 200 global speakers, more than 25 countries will engage in the Conference. “The Summit will be the largest startup confluence organized by the Government of India since the release of the Startup India initiative,” the statement read.
Narendra Modi has encouraged India’s young people to participate in the summit, saying it is a great opportunity for digital involvement. It has given young people a great chance to be part of many fascinating domestic and global forums with most events being virtually held. I recommend our young people to be part of it, “With most activities being held virtually, it has given a great opportunity for youngsters to be a part of many interesting domestic and global forums. I advise our youth to be a part of it.”
“This summit aims to bring together the top minds from industry, academia, investment, banking, finance and of course, young start-up leaders. We would also be marking 5 years since the Start-Up India initiative began. This initiative has pushed India to being among the most attractive start-up eco-systems globally.”
This event marks the fifth anniversary of the initiative launched in 2016 by Startup India on 16 January. It is also a continuity of the announcement made by PM Modi that India is dedicated to hosting the BIMSTEC Startup Conclave. This announcement was made by the Prime Minister during the fourth BIMSTEC Summit in Kathmandu in August 2018.
